St Margaret's at Troy Town CE Primary School

School Uniform

Wearing a uniform helps to create an identity for our school and gives children a sense of belonging to our school family.  The school has an inclusive uniform.  Our school uniform list is not segregated by gender. Our school uniform policy is inclusive of pupils of all ethnicities and religions.

School Clothes

  • School sweatshirt or cardigan (royal blue)
  • Polo Shirts (light blue or royal blue)
  • Grey or black trousers, skirt or shorts
  • Grey, black or white socks or tights

During the summer:

  • Grey school shorts
  • Dark blue shorts
  • Blue and white checked shorts
  • Blue and white check summer dresses
  • Blue and white checked playsuits

Footwear

  • Black shoes or plain black trainers (multi-coloured trainers are not suitable for school)

During the summer:

  • Flat sandals or shoes in neutral colours
  • Socks must be worn with footwear, including sandals.
  • During the winter, if boots or wellies are worn to school, please make sure that your child has the correct footwear to change into at school.

P.E. Kit

This year, we will continue to ask children to come to school wearing their PE kit on PE days. Year 1 - year 6 will have two P.E lessons a week. All children need to have the school P.E. kit which consists of:

  • A white polo shirt
  • Black or navy shorts
  • Plain black or navy tracksuit bottoms
  • Plain black or navy leggings
  • Trainers
  •  Our school jumper or fleece

Children taking part in outdoor games lessons must wear either trainers or plimsolls.

In gymnastics or dance in the hall, pupils are usually barefoot.

All items of P.E. kit, including footwear, must be marked with Children's names.

PE is an important part of the school curriculum and we want all children to be joining in safely. As such we ask that all earrings are removed on PE days; children will be unable to take part in PE with earrings in, and due to health and safety guidelines we are unable to put tape or plasters over them. We also ask that long hair is tied back.

Swimming

Swimming is part of the National curriculum and children in Years 4 – 6 swim on a rota system at King's School.

During those sessions they need:

  • A swimming costume (one-piece costume for girls)
  • Towel
  • Swimming cap (for girls and boys with long hair)
  • A PE bag

Safety Reminder: For Health and Safety reasons we do not allow children to wear jewellery in school. The exceptions to this rule are one pair of plain earring studs in pierced ears, jewellery of a religious nature and a watch.

Stud earrings should be removed for PE and swimming and watches removed to prevent them causing injury.

Please note: Staff do not remove or put ear studs back in if the child cannot manage it. Children cannot have earrings taped. Any child who cannot remove their earrings will not take part in PE.

If, at any point you are having any difficulties with school uniform, then please see Lynne, our Pastoral Manager for a chat, as she has a selection of pre-loved uniform and we can look at how we can best support you.

Hair

Hairstyles should be reasonable and appropriate for being in a learning environment at school. Extreme hairstyles would include shaved patterns in the scalp, Mohicans and unnaturally coloured dyes. Such hairstyles are not acceptable at school. All children, girls and boys, are required to have their hair tied back, if long enough.

Equipment

All children will be provided with the stationary that they need in school. However, in junior classes only (Year 3 - Year 6) children may choose to bring in a small pencil case with their own stationary. Children are only allowed one pencil case with them and this has got to be small enough to store in their class tray. Children are responsible for looking after their items themselves. Oversized pencil cases will not be allowed in the classrooms due to limited storage.

Items from home such as toys are not allowed in school as they can get lost or damaged. We also do not allow children to ‘swap’ items as this can lead to arguments and disagreements. Please ensure that all home items are kept at home safe and sound.
